Cioffi: Luke Bryan
One artist that I think can help represent a modern generation is Luke Bryan. Many artists along with Bryan can exemplify this greatly but for the country genre I believe that Bryan's lyrics speak to many. Growing up in Leesburg Georgia he was born into a peanut farming family. Before Bryan was planning on moving to Nashville at the age of 19 his brother died in a horrific car accident. He decided to head to college instead at Georgia Southern University and joined the Sigma Chi fraternity. After graduating Bryan was not able to make it to Nashville until 2007. Nashville is considered the country music capital for many so for Bryan being able to pursue his music there would benefit his career greatly. After being recognized by the record label Nashville Capital he was signed. Bryan's lyrics in his song "Fast" in his Kill the Lights album from 2015 talks about life and how quick it goes by. He goes on to say "60 seconds now feels more like 30, tick tock won't stop around it goes". As most people can relate to when you are growing up it almost feels like time is going by faster and the days get shorter. I know that I am able to relate to Bryans music just like many of my peers are. He still continues to produce music today even working with other country performers such as Florida Georgia line in the song "This is How We Roll" and Darius Rucker, Jason Aldean, Eric Church and Charles Kelley in other tracks. In current years Bryan helped be a judge for the show "The Voice" and also just signed for the "American Idol" reboot after being after being canceled coming back this year. Bryan also is raising his nieces and nephew after his older sister passed away. No matter what Bryan keeps a positive attitude with his music and says after winning best artist of the year in 2016 at the American Country Countdown Awards "with success and moments like these I know my siblings are up in heaven smiling down at me".

Interesting and sad facts about Bryan that I didn't know ! I am not the biggest fan of him, but I know people that do like him quite a bit. Maybe I'll have a change of heart when I take the time to listen to him again with this in mind- disappointed at myself for judging the "book by its cover," but I think a lot of us do (very unfortunately).
ReplyDeleteI am a huge Luke Bryan fan and when I saw him at Gillette a few years back it was so much fun. If you haven't been to a concert I highly recommend and if you have go see another one honestly. He has molded himself into one of the top country artists of our generation and he is so young with a lot of years left in his career and he is showing no signs of slowing down with his song writing and performances. Great choice
