Lemay - Fleetwood Mac
Fleetwood Mac is a band many overlook when they discuss rock bands of the 70s and 80s. Founded in 1967 in London, the British-American band first consisted of members Peter Green, lead guitarist and founder, drummer Mick Fleetwood, and Jeremy Spencer, also a guitarist. Eventually, bassist John McVie joined. They released their first and self-titled album, Fleetwood Mac (or Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac) in 1968. The band started primarily as a British blues group, and had some success with that. In 1974, folk duo Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks joined the band. An interesting note about this group is that in 1974, manager Clifford Davis proclaimed he had ownership of the band name Fleetwood Mac and found new members to tour as Fleetwood Mac, thus expelling the current (and genuine) members. This tour turned out to be a bust, as road manager John Courage recognized the faults of this fake band and hid the real Fleetwood's equipment. The impending lawsuit lead to a year long lull for the real Fleetwood Mac, as they struggled to determine who really owned the name. After the lost year, the band went on to reach commercial success in the late 70s, before the band disintegrated a bit in the 80s. While the group was successful together - selling tens of millions of records, they also had 3 frontmen who went on to have success as independent artists (Nicks, Buckingham, and McVie).
Above is live performance of "Go Your Own Way", a song I think showcases their style of rock music.
