One artists that I think represents our generation well is Eminem. (Marshall Bruce Mathers III) Eminem is known for his raps that speak directly to people. He is also known to say things without fear of repercussions. Some rappers have been political in their raps other have been artists to promote advertisements. Eminem tells many stories through his songs of how life is a struggle and some of the stories being from his life.
I think that he portrays emotions very well through the lyrics and the lining up of instruments. Most of his works are very powerful. In one of his songs he tells the story of how he struggles to make enough money to take care of his child, Hallie, and how he struggles to satisfy the fans and keep his family together.
Some of his tops songs are :
1.) Rap God
2.) Not Afraid
3.) No Love
4.) River (Newest hit featuring Ed Sheeran)

I also think Eminem is a great example of an artist that represents our generation. One of my favorite things about him is how he is not afraid to speak his mind.
ReplyDeleteEminem is completely unfiltered, back in 2003 his lyrics, which have often veered politically even got the attention of the secret service (http://www.mtv.com/news/1480985/did-eminem-threaten-the-president-the-secret-service-is-looking-into-it/)!
ReplyDeleteEminem was and still is a very influential voice by using his rap lyrics. With his "old self" which was much more raw contained albums such as "Curtain Call" and "Relapse" yet he just released a new album in 2017 called "Revival" which also has political connotations yet is less aggressive but still brings up hard points about our society today.
ReplyDeleteI also think that Eminem is a good example of an artist that represents our generations concerns. Like you mention, a lot of his lyrics portray some of his own life stories and the struggles that he faced growing up. Eminems approach at using both serious and funny lyrics lures many audiences across the world. Eminem is an example of an artist that has stuck around and will be remembered for many years to come.
