Bonadies Blog - Post 1

Hi.  My name is Lily Bonadies but everybody call me Lil.  I live in Deerfield, Illinois which is a suburb outside of Chicago.  I am going to be a senior at St. Mike's this coming year.  I am very excited!  My favorite bands are Imagine Dragons and Queen.  I am taking this course to gain more of a historical perspective on rock and roll.  I am a Media Studies major!

    Welcome to the course, Lily! Funny thing, critics hated Queen from the get-go but time has proven the group to be one of the most extraordinary for its age and, in its distinct way, timeless (judging by the many young fans such as yourself and others in this class).

      Hi Professor Ellis. I hate no idea that critics initially hated Queen. I think Queen's music is so diverse and I love everything they've done! It's my "go to" for working out!

    Hi Lily,
    I like your choice of bands. I am really big into country music, but when I am tired of it I go to rock. Queen is a very good band. I really like Bohemian Rhapsody.

    Hi Lily,
    I am also really interested in how Rock shaped history. I think by recognizing the hugely important role Rock plays in our timeline we can better understand how people use art as an outlet!

    Hi Lily,
    Like you, I am also taking this course to have a better understanding on the history of rock on roll, like Isabella mentioned, I think that it is important to learn about this genre as it did shape many genres today! I am also a fan of Queen and Imagine Dragons! I enjoy the song 'On Top Of The World'!
