I found that I like Chuck Berry’s music. Before this class, I did not know anything about Chuck Berry. (Or that much about boogie woogie.) While his path to becoming a successful musician was somewhat bumpy, I think he made some really upbeat tunes. One of his songs I really enjoyed listening to was “Come on” While the tune in this song is really upbeat and energetic, I read the lyrics and it is not about a happy event. In the song, it is about his life and how everything is "wrong". His girlfriend left him, and he complains about it through song. I’m not sure if this is based off a real-life event but the energy in the song is real. He lines up the different instruments with different sayings or words to portray feelings more strongly. (This is something I never really noticed.) This is not only Chuck Berry that does this. After noticing that, I listened to some more modern music and they appear to do a similar thing. It’s all so fascinating how they are able to convey so much energy and feeling through words and instruments.
Hi Brandon, great pick in Chuck, the true King of Rock and Roll in the 1950s in my humble opinion. "Come On" is so catchy, it became the Rolling Stones' debut single!

Hi Brandon, I am normally a person who does not catch the lyrics of a song all the time, so your explanations were very interesting especially because it sounds like a happy upbeat song! It is also interesting to see the song performed by both Chuck Berry and The Beatles! Although both upbeat, the version by the Beatles seems to be more moving! Thanks for sharing
